Echo Park Sober Crisis support: 988

How our data works

Choosing recovery care is a high-stakes decision, so you deserve to know exactly where this directory's information comes from, what's verified, what's paid, and what isn't. Here is the whole picture.

Where listings come from

Public dataFacility listings

Listings are compiled from publicly available information — provider websites, public registries, and provider submissions (which are reviewed before publishing). We list facilities whether or not they pay us.

Federal matchSAMHSA verification

We match facilities against FindTreatment.gov, the U.S. government's official treatment locator run by SAMHSA. When a listing shows "SAMHSA registry matched," services and payment types come straight from that federal record (matched conservatively — we only show matches above a strict confidence threshold). This data refreshes weekly.

GoogleRatings & reviews

Star ratings and review counts come from Google. We never write, edit, buy, or remove reviews — what you see is what Google shows, including low ratings.

CommunityAA & NA meetings

Meeting times sync from public meeting guides and are updated regularly. Meetings are free and open to anyone who wants to stop drinking or using.

What's paid, what's not

Some facilities pay a flat monthly fee for a "Featured" placement, which is always labeled. Paid placement never changes a facility's rating, reviews, or SAMHSA data, and facilities cannot pay to remove accurate information. We don't take referral commissions, we don't operate a call center, and the crisis numbers on every page (988, SAMHSA's helpline) are public services with no connection to us.

What we are not

We're a directory — not a medical provider, counselor, or referral service. We don't give medical advice, we don't verify your individual insurance coverage, and we never collect insurance member IDs. The Insurance Finder shows payment types facilities report to SAMHSA; always confirm directly with the facility and your plan.

How often things update

SAMHSA matches refresh weekly. Meeting data and listings update regularly. Automated checks run across every city site daily to catch broken pages, stale data, and errors — and flag them for repair the same day.

Found something wrong?

If a listing is inaccurate or a facility has closed, email [email protected] and we'll review it promptly. Facilities can claim and manage their listing.
